In Berlin, Kevin Clarke photographed the salespeople of the legendary KaDeWe department store. The resulting book Kaufhauswelt was published by Schirmer + Mosel in 1980 and won the Kodak Book Award. The work was exhibited at the Frankfurter Kunstverein.
